Men In Black III

I love all the Men In Black movies and pretty much everything Will Smith is in.  Heck, I still laugh at Prince of Bel-Air reruns.  Nothing sexier than a sense of humor.  Seriously. 

Anyway, MB3 is particularly awesome because it involves Time Travel back to the 1960s and the moon launch.  You get to meet someone very important in Agent J's life that he barely remembers.  And, by the end of the film, you learn why you should never, ever forget to tip your waiter or waitress!

War of the Worlds

"Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us." -opening line to the novel by H. G. Wells upon which this movie is based.

This is one of the best examples of the power of awesome storytelling.  When this story was broadcast on radio, people thought it was real and panicked!   War of the Worlds radio drama

The opening line must be one of the best ever written.  Storytellers take note of that.

In my heart and mind, this 1950's sci-fi classic ties with The Day the Earth Stood Still  and is trailed closely by  THEM

The 1953 movie version of War of the Worlds won out simply because of the power of its telling on real people.  It leaves me asking myself why it's so powerful.  Is it just H.G. Wells telling of it?  Or, is it the Theme of the story?  War of the Worlds 1953

WORLD WAR Z

Finally!  Finally, Brad Pitt plays a character I like.  I mean, I don’t blame Brad Pitt for the roles he’s had before, but...anyway. 

The important thing about Brad Pitt is that he raises beautiful babies with Angelina Jolie.  They have six, you know.

The thing about Zombies is that they put a face on the gazillions of germs which can kill you, like the one for the Bubonic Plague, otherwise known as the Black_Death which killed at least a third of Europe during the Middle Ages. 

Zombies are the personification of *pandemic.* 

I think it's because there's nothing more terrifying than a monster you can't see and, you know, germs can't be seen by the naked eye.

If you’ve ever seen pictures of, say, leprosy victims, you’ll see how the Zombie got its form.  Now, imagine there’s no cure and no escape.

Only a hundred years ago, the Flu Pandemic killed more people than World War I which was going on at the same time.

You will be getting your Flu shot this year, right?

World War Z is based on the novel by Max Brooks and I hope to read it soon.  I wished I'd read it first.

P.S. If this movie freaks you out, but you can’t drag yourself away from the undead, I recommend Zombieland next.  There's something about putting the funny on something terrifying that helps humans cope.

In the end, I'd probably say XOMBIES by Walter Greatshell!  Another similar story which simply hasn't made it to the big screen yet.  I reviewed it a long time ago.
